Countable and uncountable nouns

Countable nouns คำนามนับได้ หมายถึงคำนามที่เราสามารถ นับได้เช่น one book, two pens etc. คำนามในภาษาอังกฤษส่วนมาก จะเป็นคำนามนับได้
Uncountable nouns /mass nouns คำนามนับไม่ได้ เราไม่สามารถนับได้ เช่น water , coffee etc. เราไม่สามารถ ใช้
one water, two coffee, etc.

1. Name of substances considered generally ชื่อของวัตถุ ทั่วๆ ไป เช่น
bread cream gold paper tea beer dust ice sand water cloth gin jam soap wine
coffee glass oil stone wood etc

2. Abstract nouns. คำนามที่ไม่มีตัวตน เช่น
advice experience horror pity beauty fear information relief courage help knowledge
suspicion death hope mercy work

3. คำนามเหล่านี้ ในภาษาอังกฤษถือว่า นับไม่ได้
baggage damage buggage shopping camping furniture parking weather ส่วนคำว่า hair
information knowledge news rubbish บางครั้งนับได้ในภาษาอื่น

4. Uncountable nouns ต้องเป็น
1. เอกพจน์เสมอ และ
2. จะใช้ a / an นำหน้าไม่ได้ เช่น I don't want (any) advice or help. I want (some) information.
He has had no experience in this sort of work.

5. Uncountable nouns บางครั้งอาจใช้บางกรณี เป็นคำนามนับได้เช่น
Hair (all the hair on one's head) is considered uncountable , but if we considered each hair
separately we say one hair, two hairs etc. Her hair is black. Whenever she finds a grey hair
she pulls it out. We drink beer, coffee, gin , but we can ask for a (cup of ) coffee, a gin , two
gins etc. We drink out of glasses . We can walk in woods.
