Adverbs คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ คือ คำที่ใช้ขยายคำกริยาให้ได้ความชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น เช่น

He walked slowly. The boy ran quickly.

แบ่งได้ดังต่อไปนี้
1.Adverbs of manner คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกอาการเช่น ตัวอย่างข้างบน

คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ส่วนมากมาจาก คำคุณศัพท์ โดยการเติม ly เช่น

good----- well เปลี่ยนรูป
คำต่อไปนี้ใช้รูปเดียวกัน
hard --- hard
fast ----fast

2. Adverbs of time คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกเวลา เช่น yesterday, tomorrow, today etc.

3. Adberbs of place คำกริยาวิเศษณ์บอก สถานที่ เช่น here , there.

4.Adverbs of degree คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่ ใช้ ขยาย กริยา / คุณศัพท์ / และคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ เช่น

Tom did a very difficult exercise.
That hat is too big for you.
Yes, it is rather large.
Dinner is almost ready.
This book is more interesting than that one.
What is the most interesting book you have ever read?

5. Adverbs of quantity คำกริยาวเศษณ์ที่บอก จำนวน เช่น

I went there only once or twice.
He comes here sometimes (often, daily, weekly etc.)
I never see him now.

6. Interrogative Adverbs คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่ใช้เป็นคำถามเช่น

Where are you going?
Why did you do that?
When will he come here?

วิธีการแยก ระหว่าง Adverbs and Prepositions
Come & sit near me. the boy sat near the door.(prep) มีคำนามหรือสรรพนามตามหลัง
The boy comes near, when he heard the music.( adverb)
He went into the room before me.(prep)
I have been to this place before.(adverb)
