Adjectives คำคุณศัพท์ ใช้ขยายคำนามให้ได้ความชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น
แบ่งได้ดังต่อไปนี้

1. Adjective of Quanlity คำคุณศัพท์บอกลักษณ์ คำคุณศัพท์มักวางไว้ 2 ที่คือ หน้าคำนามที่มันขยาย เช่น
a fat man , an old book , a heavy box, a good egg etc.

และวางใว้หลัง V. to be เช่น
That man is tall.
She is fat.
These books are new.

2.Adjectives of quantity คุณศัพท์ บอกจำนวน เช่น

I have two eyes.
There are twenty books on the shelf.

3.Demonstrative Adjectives คุณศัพท์ชี้เฉพาะ เช่น

I like this car.
They don't like that car.

4.Interrogative adjectives คุณศัพท์ที่ใช้เป็นคำถาม เช่น

What book are you reading now?
What price are eggs today?
Which boy can answer this question?
Whose house is this?

5.Possessive adjectives คำคุณศัพท์แสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ เช่น

This is your car.
That is my car.

6.Comparison การเปรียบเทียบ มี 3 ขั้นคือ

Positive (ขั้นปกติ) comparative ( ขั่นกว่า) Superlative ( ขั้นสูงสุด)

tall ----------taller ------tallest
short --------shorter--- -shortest
quick -------quicker ----quickest
old ------ข--older -------oldest

คำคุณศัพท์เสียงสั้น ตัวสะกดตัวเดียวให้เพิ่ม พยัญชนะตัวท้ายอีกตัวเช่น

hot---hotter---hottest
fat--fatter ---fattest
big---bigger--- biggest
Thin---thinner---thinnest

คำคุณศัพท์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย E ให้เติม R หรือ ST ได้เลย เช่น

large----larger----largest
fine-----finer------finest

คำคุณศัพท์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y ให้เปลี่ยน y เป็น i แล้วเติม er / est เช่น

pretty-----prettier----prettiest
happy-----happier---happiest
heavy----heavier----heaviest

คุณศัพท์ที่มากกว่า 3 พยางค์ขึ้นไป ให้เติม more ขั้นกว่า most ขั้นสูงสุด เช่น

important-----more important---most important
Dangerous---more dangerous ---most dangerous
